It is often said that it is easier to lose weight in the summer. This can be partly due to the warmer weather and the abundance of fruit and vegetables, but it may also be due to the fact that in the summer we can more easily have that feel good factor making us more motivated. Often our summer clothes are an incentive to lose weight also
How do you lose weight in winter when there is three foot of snow on the ground and the temperatures are in the minus 20+?
A couple of things, continue with your changed eating habits, eating less and eating more healthy and less fast food meals. You still need to burn more calories than you consume. So good eating will lower your consumption of calories. Christmas is always a difficult time to be trying to lose weight with all of the Christmas deserts etc etc.
The exercise path to losing weight needs to change over the winter months. Walking in the park is not always practical with the amount of snow that can fall. There is a need for more exercise/walking in the home. Again it is not that difficult to achieve significant calorie fires where you burn those calories off.
Most house/apartments have stairs. Walk up and down the stairs more often than you would normally. Walk up and down twice every time you have to go up or down the stairs. Stair walking is excellent for cardio vascular exercise. You are still walking so it is not too stressful on the body, you are nor trying to climb the stairs in the Empire State Building. If you can do that then go for it.
There is always the old favorite calisthenics, though today you can buy DVDs or videos of different exercises you can follow along with in front of the screen. You may have to rearrange the furniture to be able to lie down on the floor. But hey that is exercise in itself, more calories burnt.
Exercise machines can be bought and used inside during the winter. You can build a decent sweat if you walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes or jump on an exercise bike for 30 minutes as well. There are other exercise machines that you can purchase as well like the bow flex. These are just a few ideas of how to lose weight
Also when you are cooking your meals you can stand and do a few stretching exercises as you wait. Use what ever time you can find to do a few little exercises. The combined effect will be to burn more calories and lose weight.
So really no one has any excuse to say that they cannot lose weight in the winter months, it is just a matter of readjusting your mind set and finding new and innovative ways to lose weight
